Designing for Neurodiverse users

An estimated 20% of the global population is neurodiverse. Neurodiversity includes autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and more, each with its own set of challenges and needs. It’s essential to pay close attention to Cognitive Disabilities since they are often underlooked in accessibility efforts. This is because most accessibility is treated as a technical task which leaves neurodiverse user needs unaddressed in the design. We need to do better. By changing how we approach neurodiversity in design, we can.

Designing for neurodiverse users presents unique challenges because it requires recognizing and understanding the vast cognitive differences that affect how people perceive, understand, and interact with digital content.

In this workshop, we start by setting aside neurotypical designer biases early on.
