Course Description: Localizing user experience to meet the unique needs of different locales requires a localization + UX approach. This Cross-Cultural Design Localization Training gets to the heart of designing for users across cultures. First, we look at cross-cultural design challenges and how to bring UX maturity to localization efforts. In designing across cultures, we aim to bring a cultural sensitivity to design choices. Second, we tackle the challenges of culture and how to design for varied audiences. Getting the mechanics of cultural differences right is critical for Localization UX; this training gives you the tools to do this.

By the end of this course, participants will understand:

  1. Cultural awareness and detection: Learn the essence of culture, identifying cultural touchpoints to incorporate into design strategy.
  2. Translation vs. UX differentiation: Differentiate between translation and UX, setting up global teams for cohesive studies. Learn to work with culturally sensitive layouts, content, and “local” features.
  3. Catering to distinct global audiences: Create designs for diverse audiences, catering to unique cultural needs.
  4. Strategic decision-making: Identify when to localize and when not to, fostering a design-driven localization approach.
  5. Collaborating with Localization teams: Collaborate with localization teams, adding a UX dimension to increase value.
  6. Organise global user research: Learn how to conduct field studies and user testing with global audiences and manage UX teams.
